Come on board! 

Atlanta City Councilmember Aaron Watson is leading a ride on the Silver Comet Trail to the Alabama state line.

Let's Ride (to Alabama)

Bike riders at all levels of experience on a bike are invited to the Living Smarter through Bicycling with Aaron Watson. The ride will include an optional overnight stay in Cedartown, Georgia after reaching the Alabama state line.

Silver Comet Depot, 4342 Floyd Road, Mableton, GA
End:   4 pm (estimated) Esom Hill on Silver Comet Trail, Polk County, Alabama
Ride length:  112-mile roundtrip bike ride (56 miles one-way)

Ride Options
2-Day Ride

  • Saturday, October 22, 2011
    • Ride will begin at the Silver Comet Depot (mile marker 4.20), 4342 Floyd Road. We will make short breaks along the ride every seven to 12 miles
    • In Cedartown stop, riders have a choice of ending their ride here or continuing another 13 miles to the state line.  At the state line, there will be  a final break to celebrate completing the first leg of the ride before returning to Cedartown.
    • All riders will gather in Cedartown, Georgia  for dinner and an overnight stay.
    • Rooms are being held at the Holiday Inn Express, 100 John Hand Road, Cedartown and dinner reservations are being arranged.

    • Refreshments and a light lunch will be provided at the break points during the ride. Riders will be responsible for their dinner and hotel stay. Hotel reservations should be made in advance of the ride. When booking, mention you are part of the Aaron Watson group.

1-Day Ride

  • Saturday only
  • This ride option allows riders to conclude the ride at any point on the way to the Alabama state line. Riders will need to secure their own transportation back to Atlanta, or if they plan to ride their bikes back, notify Aaron Watson or one of the ride leaders of their plans.

Training Ride:

  • Training ride is Saturday October 15, 2011
  • Ride will begin at 8:00 am at the Silver Comet Depot (mile marker 4.20), 4342 Floyd Road
